Kathmandu, September 14
Prime Minister Balen Shah is holding discussions with local representatives from districts and local levels declared disaster crisis zones following the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa.
The meeting began at 11 am Monday at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar, with representatives and lawmakers from 15 disaster-affected local levels in Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading, Gorkha and Tanahun.
The discussions are focused on reviewing the situation following the floods, assessing the current conditions in the affected areas, identifying immediate steps to be taken and discussing recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
Representatives from Nuwakot attending the meeting include members of the House of Representatives Bikram Timilsina and Achyutam Lamichhane, as well as Bidur Municipality Mayor Rajan Shrestha, Belkotgadhi Municipality Mayor Jagat Bahadur Gurung, Kispang Rural Municipality Chair Birbal Tamang and Tarkeshwar Rural Municipality Chair Shiv Adhikari.
From Rasuwa, Uttargaya Rural Municipality Chair Madhav Prasad Aryal, Kalika Rural Municipality Chair Hari Krishna Devkota and Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality Chair Buchung Tamang are participating in the meeting. Gosainkunda Rural Municipality Chair Kaisang Nurpu Tamang is attending the discussion virtually.
Representatives from Dhading include Galchhi Rural Municipality Chair Kedarnath Khatiwada, Siddhalek Rural Municipality Chair Parshuram Khatiwada, Gajuri Rural Municipality Chair Ganesh Lal Shrestha and Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality Chair Krishna Bahadur Thapaliya (Bibek).
From Tanahun, Devghat Rural Municipality Chair Til Bahadur Thapa and Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality Chair Shukra Chuman are participating, while Gandaki Rural Municipality Chair Dipak Timilsina (Sakar) is representing Gorkha.
The meeting is expected to focus on the challenges faced by disaster-affected communities and the measures needed for relief, reconstruction and long-term recovery.
