Student unions affiliated to various political parties have decided to launch a joint campaign to mobilise their members in rescue and relief activities in the wake of recent floods and landslides in various parts of the country.
A meeting of the unions held in Kathmandu today decided to launch the campaign immediately targeting 26 districts hit by the recent disasters.
CPN-UML-aligned ANNFSU’s Secretary RC Lamichhane says the student unions will also submit a memorandum to the government to take diplomatic initiatives to open doors of various barrages and provide immediate relief to the victims.
They also established a joint relief fund with Rs 350,000.
The meeting also called lawmakers and government staff to contribute their salary to relief activities.
