Parties busy in internal meetings after House reinstatement

Kathmandu, February 24

Following the Supreme Court’s landmark verdict ordering the reinstatement of the House of Representatives dissolved by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, major political parties are busy in internal meetings about their next move.

The Oli-led faction of the virtually split Nepal Communist Party has called its standing committee members for a meeting at 11 this morning. The meeting shall take place at Oli’s official residence in Baluwatar of Kathmandu.

Likewise, the other faction of the party led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal has called its House of Representatives members for a meeting at 4 this afternoon, informs the party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha.

Meanwhile, the main opposition party Nepali Congress is also highly likely to hold some internal meetings today as it will be crucial in the formation of the new government once the House will remove Oli through a no-confidence motion. However, the party has not yet published any schedule of its official meeting today.

Concluding the two-month-long hearing, a constitutional bench led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana had issued the verdict of reinstating the House on Tuesday late afternoon.
