Parsa teen killed in fire ignited by Laxmi Puja lamp

Birgunj, November 15

One person died when a lamp lit for Laxmi Puja celebrations on Saturday night ignited a fire at a house in Bahudarmai municipality-8 of Parsa district in southern Nepal.

The victim has been identified as 15-year-old Mana Kumari Sah, a daughter of Mana Bodh Sah, a resident of local Ramnagari.

The teenage girl was asleep when the house caught fire last night. Other members of the family were awake, so they could run away to safety, it has been learned.

Clothes, foodstuffs and other items in the house were gutted in the fire. The total loss is worth around Rs 500,000.

The victim’s body has been taken to the Birgunj-based Narayani Hospital for autopsy.
