Dal Bahadur Rana, a lawmaker of the ruling Nepal Communist Party representing Palpa-1 in the House of Representatives, says he has not yet agreed to resign to let the party’s vice-chairman Bamdev Gautamn contest in his place.

Rana’s comment comes a day after the party decided to elect Gautam to the Lower House through a byelection at an appropriate time. Though there has not been any decision regarding the constituency for him, there were some reports that Rana has been convinced to resign so that Gautam can contest.

However, Rana, also a former minister, clarifies on his Facebook page that the reports were false and spread against the sentiments of party unity.

Rana has been loyal to Gautam in the party’s internal dynamics since long ago.
