Dhanusha district court has sentenced Dr Sanjiv Yadav, the then director of Dhanusha Nursing College, to two years in jail and ordered him to pay a total of around 95 lakh rupees for cheating students.

College proprietor Gayatri Devi had filed a case against Dr Yadav two years ago, accusing him of cheating students by collecting money from students when he was not authorised to do so. Dr Yadav is at large.

A single bench of justice Rishi Prasad Adhikari issued this verdict. The bench sentenced Yadav to two years in jail, ordered him to repay around Rs 47.52 lakh collected from students and pay the equal amount as fine.

In the name of enrollment, Dr Yadav had allegedly collected Rs 53 lakh from students using forged receipts and fled with the money instead of depositing it in the college’s bank account. The college had expelled Dr Yadav after the incident came to light. This incident had halted the college’s academic activiteis for some time.
