CIAA, which is now under the leadership of Dip Basnyat, has decided to run its affairs on the basis of collective leadership.
CIAA Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki, suspended in the wake of an impeachment motion registered against him in the Parliament, had allegedly been running the constitutional anti-corruption agency by giving five other commissioners no role in its affairs. Such was his leadership that commissioners used to know about CIAA decisions on important cases only through its press conferences.
A recent meeting held under Basnet, acting Chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, decided to go for collective leadership. For this, CIAA will hold meetings twice a week.
A CIAA source told Onlinekhabar: We will hold meetings twice a week on certain days. All decisions of the anti-corruption agency will now be collective.
CIAA can, of course, hold emergency meetings if the situation so demands.
