Nine parliamentary committees to meet today

Meetings of nine parliamentary committees under the Federal Parliament are scheduled to take place on Thursday.

The House of Representatives is scheduled to meet on August 24, while the National Assembly will meet on Friday, allowing several parliamentary committees to hold meetings today.

The Finance Committee, meeting at 11 am, will continue clause-by-clause discussions on the bill to amend the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2002. The finance minister and finance secretary have been invited to the meeting.

The International Relations and Tourism Committee will also meet at 11 am to discuss the Tourism Bill, 2024 with stakeholders, including the Hotel Association Nepal.

The Industry and Commerce, Labour and Consumer Interest Committee, meeting at 10 am, will discuss complaints received by the committee.

The Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee will discuss the production, storage and distribution of organic fertilisers and ways to gradually reduce the use of chemical fertilisers without affecting agricultural production.

The Infrastructure Development Committee will discuss the Bagmati Beautification Project under the High-Powered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee.

The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, scheduled to meet at 11 am, will hold discussions with officials of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority on its activities and related issues.

The Education, Health and Information Technology Committee will discuss the National Forensic Science Laboratory (Establishment and Operation) Bill, 2024.

The Public Accounts Committee will discuss the auditing of foreign assistance received by Nepal.

Meanwhile, the Legislative Management Committee, scheduled to meet at 1 pm, will discuss legislative interrelationships with the president and executive director of the National Association of Rural Municipalities in Nepal.
