New selling price set for eggs: How much per crate?

Kathmandu, January 20

The Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers’ Association has recommended new selling prices for eggs.

Based on a physical meeting of the association held in Kathmandu and Banepa, as well as suggestions and recommendations from egg-producing farmers across the country, the association has fixed the new prices, effective from today.

Taking Chitwan as the main reference point, farm-gate prices for eggs have been determined for nationwide application.

According to association secretary Madan Pokharel, the price of extra-large eggs has been set at Rs 480 per crate, large eggs at Rs 465 per crate, and medium eggs at Rs 445 per crate.

In addition, an extra charge of Rs 130 per crate will be applied to cover transportation costs from Chitwan to sales depots in different parts of the country, as well as the cost of cartons and crates.
