New PM Deuba receives Indian, US and Chinese ambassadors at his residence, one each day

L-R: Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Randy Berry and Hou Qanqi

Kathmandu, July 16

Newly appointed Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has received ambassadors of India, the United States and China to Nepal at his residence, one each day.

Whereas Deuba was appointed the PM on Tuesday, he received Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra at his private residence in Budhanilakantha on Wednesday. The US Ambassador Randy Berry followed suit on Thursday and went to Budhanilakantha to pay a courtesy call.

As Deuba shifted from his private residence in Budhanilakantha to the government residence in Baluwatar on Friday morning, Chinese Ambassador Hou Yanqi paid the call this afternoon.

Although ambassadors have been meeting Deuba one after another, Nepal’s analysts have expressed concerns over why Indian PM Narendra Modi did not congratulate him personally, even on social media, as he would do so every time in the past.
