NEPSE: Stock market transactions reach Rs 6.5 Billion

The NEPSE index saw a notable rise, increasing by 15.46 points to close at 2,119 points. The stock market experienced significant activity on Thursday, the week’s last trading day, with Rs 6.5 billion in transactions. This marks an increase from the previous day’s Rs 5.08 billion, reaching Rs 6.48 billion.

The trading session ended with 148 companies seeing a price increase, 93 experiencing a decline, and 6 remaining unchanged.

Development banks attracted substantial interest, with the sector’s index rising by 3.43 per cent (145 points). Other sectors also saw positive movements: banking increased by 5 points, hotel and tourism by 93 points, hydropower by 5 points, life insurance by 197 points, microfinance by 9 points, non-life insurance by 62 points, others by 2 points, and trading group by 15 points. Conversely, the production sector fell by 9 points, and the finance sector declined by 15 points.

Akhukhola Hydropower Company led the gainers with a 10 per cent increase in its share price. Samaj Laghubitta rose by 9.23 per cent, Aarambha Chautari Laghubitta by 7.33 per cent, Shangri-la Development Bank by 6.4 per cent, Excel Development Bank by 6 per cent, Himalaya Urja Development Bank by 5.6 per cent, and NRN Infrastructure by 5.6 per cent.

On the losing side, Mailung Khola Hydropower saw a decrease of 9.37 per cent, Dordikhola Hydropower fell by 4.75 per cent, Janaki Finance dropped by 3.7 per cent, and Nyadi Hydropower declined by 3.25 per cent.

In terms of transaction volume, NRN Infrastructure, Nepal Finance, Mahalaxmi Development Bank, Saptakoshi Development Bank, and Manjushree Finance led the market.
