NEPSE: Business volume increases though share index declines

Kathmandu, June 6

The share market index, NEPSE, dropped by 1.93 points on the final trading day, Thursday. Despite the index decrease, the business volume surged. While transactions amounted to Rs 3.99 billion the previous day, they reached Rs 4.38 billion today.

As 101 companies witnessed an increase in their share prices, 135 saw a decline, and 11 remained unchanged. Among sectoral indices, trading groups saw the most significant rise by 1.96 per cent (58 points), with microfinance increased by 42 points, hydropower by 20, and hospitality and tourism by 6 points. However, banking experienced a decline by 7 points, development banks by 24, finance by 45, life insurance by 24, manufacturing by 42, non-life insurance by 40, and other sectors by 2 points.

Energy Nepal, Middle Solu Hydropower, and Buddha Bhumi Hydropower witnessed a 10 per cent increase in their share prices.

In terms of business volume, NRN Infrastructure, CEDB Hydro Fund, Pokhara Finance, Himalayan Microfinance, and Super Madhi Hydropower remained at the forefront.
