Nepal’s three major political parties discussing Constitution, local level restructuring

Three major political parties — Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre — are having a high-level meeting at the call of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

Senior leaders from the parties are attending the meeting at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-UML President KP Sharma Oli are not attending the meeting as they are abroad.

A team under UML Vice-president Bam Dev Gautam is representing the party at the meeting, whereas leaders, including Ram Chandra Poudel, are representing the Congress.

According to leaders, discussions on topics like local level restructuring and Constitution amendment are underway at the meeting.
