Nepal’s per capita income projected at USD 862

Kathmandu, May 28

Nepal’s per capita income has been projected to have reached USD 862, Minister for Finance Krishna Bahadur Mahara informed on Sunday.

Tabling the Economic Survey for the current fiscal year 2016/17 at the Parliament meeting today, the Minister said a Nepali earns NRs 88,785 a year on an average.

This is Rs 10,815 more than the end of last fiscal year.

It has been estimated that the agricultural sector has the contribution of 29.37 per cent to the gross domestic product for this fiscal year whereas the non-agricultural sector has a share of 70.63 per cent. Of the GDP, 22.3 per cent is contributed by revenues.

Meanwhile, the government has hoped that the economic growth rate by the end of this fiscal year at mid-July would reach 6.94 per cent. Nepal had recorded a low economic growth of 0.01 per cent last year.
