Kathmandu, July 8
The Federal Alliance, which has been staging a 12-hour relay hunger strike at Khula Manch in Kathmandu, is mulling over its fresh protest programmes for the rainy season lasting about two months.
It is mulling over resorting to what it calls promotional movement.
Despite the hunger strike, the KP Sharma Oli-led government has not even called the FA for talks. The government is busy sending talks invite to the United Democratic Madheshi Front, which is part of the FA that also comprises Janajati forces.
At its meeting held at its secretariat on Friday, the FA discussed its future programmes. To avoid the rainy season, we are organising a promotion-oriented movement in Srawan and Bhadra, an FA leader said, adding: We are discussing future programmes.
The hunger strike will end in about a week, as per an earlier schedule. On July 14-15, the party secretariat plans to organise a massive protest.
A leader said the Secretariat has floated a proposal seeking continuation of the relay hunger strike till Srawan 15 (July 30). The secretariat’s another offer proposes staging relay hunger strikes in district headquarters. The UDMF meeting slated for July 11 will discuss both the proposals.
The FA has warned it will launch a decisive movement after two months.
