61 more Nepalis return home from Afghanistan

Kathmandu, August 18

As many as 61 more Nepalis have returned to Kathmandu from Afghanistan on Wednesday morning.

Raj Kumar Chettri, spokesperson of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) told Onlinekhabar that the Nepalis returned to Kathmandu and landed here at 8:45 am via a Qatar Airways flight.

“They first went to London after which they flew to Doha and then to Kathmandu,” said Chettri.

They have been taken to a holding centre where all 61 will undergo Covid-19 tests after which they will be sent home.

With this, 266 people have returned to Nepal from Afghanistan on chartered flights. On Tuesday, 118 Nepalis came back home in the morning while 87 more returned to Kathmandu in the evening.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 256 more Nepalis have filled up the form stating that they want to return home as soon as possible.

There are reportedly 1,500 Nepalis in Afghanistan.
