A Nepali player has won the bronze medal in the World Para-Taekwondo Championships that concluded in London on Thursday.

Ranjana Dhami finished third in the 44-49 kg group by defeating her Peruvian competitor by 22-20.

Her coach Kalyan Kunwar said Dhami, however, got defeated by a Mongolian player in the semifinals.

Nepal had sent four players including two women and two men in the team. The men, Ram Bahadur Adhikari and Rohit Hang Rai, could not get above the group stage whereas another player Palesa Govardhan was defeated by an Russian in the quarterfinals.

Kunwar says the results were not satisfying though the players’ performance was excellent and the event gave them an opportunity to collect experiences.
