Nepal’s renowned eye surgeon Dr Sanduk Ruit has been featured by the United States’ Quartz online news website on its ’99 best things that happened in 2017′, a list of positive news stories reported on various international media.

The list includes works of Dr Ruit and his colleague Geoff Tabin, claiming they helped restore sight to 4 million people in two dozen countries, including North Korea and Ethiopia.

The list highlights positive developments in various fields including health, environment conservation, livelihood, fossil fuel control, clean energy development, justice, and violence control, among others.

The 2006 Ramon Magsaysay winner is attributed to the development of inexpensive intraocular lenses for cataract surgery. He is often busy visiting different places of the world, treating people and training other surgeons about his technology.
