The Ram Chandra Poudel camp within the Nepali Congress has yet to forward to the party the list of candidates that it wants appointed ministers in the Prachanda-led government.

According to Poudel, Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called him to recommend names for ministerial positions from his camp. Poudel said he wants at least five-six candidates from his camp to become ministers, whereas Deuba has asked for four candidates only.

On Wednesday morning, the Poudel camp had a meeting for the selection of ministers.

Poudel informed leaders that they are yet to finalise the number of berths that his camp will get in the government as well as their portfolios.

A leader, who attended the meeting, said: Now, Poudel will hold talks with NC President. And our camp will have a meeting at 4 pm.

Meanwhile, NC leader Arjun Narsingh KC is in a bid to become a minister. In the first phase of Cabinet expansion, leader KC had refused to join the government, after failing to get a plum portfolio. Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi, and Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Ramesh Lekhak had taken the oath back then.

Deuba had offered KC to choose Health or Defence portfolio, which he had rejected.
