Kathmandu, August 10
Nepal is planning to import 210 megawatt more electricity from India so as to avoid regular power outage in upcoming winter.
In a recent meeting of the bilateral Power Exchange Committee, the two countries agreed to import additional 100 megawatt power via Kataiya-Kushaha-Raxaul-Parwanipur transmission line and the equal amount via Dhalkebar-Muzaffarpur transmission line.
A substation is under construction in Dhalkebar of Dhanusha district to import the power via Muzaffarpur and the NEA plans to complete the construction before the onset of winter.
Likewise, 10 megawatt power will be imported via Dhangadhi-Palia transmission line.
NEA spokesperson Prabal Adhikari says the transmission line will come into operation within next two months.
Meanwhile, Nepal proposed construction of three additional transmission lines. However,, the issue has not been finalised yet.
