Nepal on Thursday reported the first case of the death of a medical doctor due to Covid-19.
A 58-year-old doctor working at Karnali Provincial Hospital in Surkhet died of Covid-19 today, informs Provincial Health Directorate.
He had contracted Covid-19 two weeks ago. After he reported shortness in breathing, he was taken to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj for further treatment. After his health condition worsened this morning, he was put on a ventilator.
However, he breathed his last at around 3 pm today, according to the directorate’s chief Dr Rabin Khadka.
Nepal’s Covid-19 death tally has reached 509 as of Thursday afternoon, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
