Nepal remains unbeaten in U-19 Women’s Asia Cup group stage

Kathmandu, December 17

Nepal has advanced to the Super Four stage of the ACC U-19 Women’s Asia Cup Cricket, remaining unbeaten in the group stage.

In Tuesday’s match against India, Nepal shared points after rain interrupted play, leaving the match without a result. Chasing a target of 95 runs set by Nepal, India had reached 28-0 in 3.1 overs when rain halted the game. With no further play possible, both teams split the points.

Earlier, Nepal, invited to bat first after losing the toss, scored 94 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Puja Mahato top-scored with 25 runs, while Alisakumari Yadav contributed an unbeaten 20. India’s Parunika Sisodia was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 12 runs in her 4 overs.

Nepal had already secured their place in the Super Four by defeating Pakistan in their opening match on Monday. Pakistan, who also lost to India, failed to qualify.

Nepal finished second in Group B, trailing India on net run rate despite both teams having equal points.

In the Super Four, Nepal will face India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, with the top two teams advancing to the final.
