Kathmandu, March 7

Nepal has received 348,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine in the first lot of support from the World Health Organisation’s Covax vaccine support programme.

This Oxford-AstraZeneca is the same vaccine that Nepal received as a grant from India and it purchased later.

Health Minister Hridayesh Tripathi received the vaccines at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Sunday.

In total, Nepal is receiving 2.2 million doses of vaccines from Covax. It is hoped that they will be sufficient for the 20 per cent population of the country.
