Nepal preparing seven key laws to fight terrorism: Home Minister

Kathmandu, July 13

Minister for Home Affairs Janaradan Sharma says his government is working on seven key pieces of legislation to combat terrorism.

Sharma, who was addressing a meeting of SAARC home ministers in Colombo on Thursday, said the main threat for security in now in the cyber space.

The minister, however, stopped short of naming the pieces of legislation his government is working on. Sharma assured his counterparts that Nepal takes the issue of money laundering seriously and that a committee has been formed to review existing legal provisions.

The minister, in his address, also said the local elections in Nepal will help the country achieve political stability and prosperity.

Sharma is being accompanied by Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi, Ministry Spokesperson Deepak Kafle and the minister’s personal secretary Gopal Sharma. The delegation is to return to Nepal on Friday.
