Preparations to promote DIGs to AIGs, SSPs to DIGs and SPs to SSPs have been stalled as three Nepal Police officials complained that they were excluded from the recommendations for promotions unjustly.

DIG Madhu Prasad Pudasaini, SSP Subas Chandra Chaudhary and SP Bibhuti Raj Pandey have moved the Review Committee at Public Service Commission claiming personnel junior to them have been recommended for promotion while they were not included in the list.

PSC spokesperson Laxmi Bilas Koirala says the Committee now will collect documents from the Ministry of Home Affairs and launch an investigation.

“If we find some misconduct during the review,” he says, “The names might be changed.”

The Committee headed by the PSC Chairperson will look into work performance records, conducts and seniority.

Accusations are rife that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Home Minister Janardan Sharma picked their favourites for the promotion.
