Nepal PM Oli incapable of resolving Madhesh crises, helping quake victims: Maoist leader Dinanath Sharma

Kathmandu, June 6

Dinanath Sharma, leader of the CPN-Maoist Centre, has accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of working to fulfill petty interests of his party, the CPN-UML.

Sharma said implementing the constitution has become more difficult because of Oli. Sharma, speaking at a face-to-face that Reporters’ Club had organised on Monday, said the Oli government has failed to resolve the Madhesh crises and provide relief to the victims of last year’s quakes.

The Maoist leader said: Complexities have developed in the implementation of the constitution because PM Oli has denied existence of problems in the Madhesh.

He claimed that PM Oli is incapable of implementing the constitution, addressing Madheshi parties’ demands related to provincial demarcation and reconstruction of earthquake-affected infrastructure.

The former minister said implementing the constitution will be impossible without resolving problems related to provincial boundaries. Instead of creating an environment for talks with Madheshi leaders, PM Oli is shrugging off his responsibilities by saying that there’s no problem in Madhesh, Sharma alleged.

At the programme, CPN-UML leader Keshav Badal said: Talks with Madheshi parties have not been possible because they have ignored the government’s repeated calls for the same.

He said the main opposition Nepali Congress and Madheshi parties should help the government implement the constitution.

At the programme, Mahendra Yadav, president of the Tarai-Madhesh Sadbhavana Party, said they will sit for talks only if there’s a guarantee that Madhesh will have two provinces.
