Kathmandu, October 25
Nepal has received over 100,000 doses of Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines as grant assistance from the United States government via the World Health Organization and the Covax initiative.
A Qatar Airways aircraft delivered the vaccines at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Monday morning.
This is the first time that the country imported Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines in grant support or purchase. So far, Nepal had been using AstraZeneca/Covishield, Vero Cell and Janssen/J&J vaccines.
The Ministry of Health spokesperson Krishna Prasad Paudel informs the vaccines will be distributed among people aged 12 and above, living with chronic diseases.
Meanwhile, the ministry is also purchasing six million doses of the same vaccine for children aged 12-18.
