Nepal Parliament to start discussions on budgetary allocations from Monday

Discussions on the budget for the fiscal 2073-74 BS will begin in the Parliament from June 20. The Parliament Secretariat has allocated five hours daily for budget-related discussions that will last about a fortnight.

On June 20-21, discussions will cover budgetary allocations for ministries of commerce, irrigation, supplies, tourism, population and environment, general administration and science and technology.

On June 22-24, discussions will take place on allocations for ministries of information and communications, health, land reforms, agriculture development, industries, youth and sports and law.

On June 26-28, the secretariat has scheduled discussions on budgetary allocations for ministries of home, education, finance, energy, forests.

Discussions on alloations for ministries of foreign affairs, local development, defence, physical infrastructure and transport will take place on June 29-July 1. Discussions on budget for offices of president and vice-president, Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and National Planning Commission will also take place on June 29-July 1.

From July 3 till July 6, the government will respond to lawmakers’ budget-related concerns and questions in the Parliament.

About a fortnight ago, the government had presented a budget of around Rs 10.5 trillion for the fiscal 2073-74 BS.
