Nepal imported rice worth Rs 28.6 billion in 11 months

Nepal imported rice worth Rs 28.6 billion in the past 11 months (mid-July 2020 till mid-June 2021), informs the Department of Customs.

As per the statistics published by the department on Wednesday, Nepal imported 603.725 million kilograms of rice by spending Rs 28.603 billion.

Nepal imports most of the rice from India whereas imports have been made from China, the Philippines, Japan and Thailand also, the department informs.

The department says the government earned Rs 2.751 billion in revenues from the rice imports.

The amount Nepal spent on the import of rice in these 11 months is Rs 7.4 billion more than the amount spent in the same period last year (Rs 21.204 billion).
