Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi said on Sunday that the government is making preparations to amend the Constitution. Nidhi, speaking at a programme in Janakpurdham, said the onus is on all Nepalis to make three-tier elections — local, provincial and federal — successful after Constitution amendment.

The country needs to focus on Constitution amendment and implementation, not on movement, he said.

The government’s decision to set up a high court in Janakpur has opened the possibility of turning Janakpur into a provincial capital, he said, stressing the need to promote Janakpur as a symbol of Mithila culture.

He stressed the need to design gold and silver jewellery of Janakpur in Puranic ways and promote them in the international market, calling jewellers to conduct research for the same.

At the programme, social worker Pawan Singhaniya was feted.
