Kathmandu, June 1
Nepal will elect its new Prime Minister on Sunday, June 4, if the issue about halted vote counting in Bharatpur Metropolitan City is get resolved by then.
If the issue persists, the main opposition CPN-UML is likely to obstruct the Parliament meeting called for the day and the election of Prime Minister will be delayed.
Since yesterday, the party has been obstructing the meeting demanding resumption of vote counting.
Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar has called a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee for Friday morning and the meeting will publish the schedule for PM’s election.
The meeting is likely to fix the date of Saturday to file nominations and Sunday to hold voting, according to a Secretariat source.
When the voting will be held, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is almost certain to get elected to the top executive job as the CPN-Maoist Centre and some other parties are going to extend support to him.
The UML has not said anything whether it will file any leader in the PM’s race.
