Nepal deports 40 foreigners in 3 months

Kathmandu, February 22

Nepal has deported 40 foreigners from the country on various charges from mid-October 2020 to mid-January 2021.

The Department of Immigration says most of those deported (19) are Chinese. Of them, 19 were deported on the charge of overstaying whereas three others were found to be involved in human trafficking and organised crime. Three others faced other miscellaneous charges.

Likewise, the other deportees belonged to the following nationalities:

  • The US: 3
  • Australia: 2
  • Pakistan: 2
  • Yemen: 2
  • France: 2
  • Romania: 1
  • Mauritius: 1
  • Malaysia: 1
  • Vietnam: 1
  • Brazil: 1
  • Bangladesh: 1
  • Jordan: 1
  • Congo: 1
  • Estonia: 1

Charge-wise, 27 in total were deported on the charge of overstaying, the most common charge among all the deportees.
