Nepal Covid-19 tally: 8,591 PCR and 389 antigen cases in 24 hours; death toll up by 129

Kathmandu, May 22

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 505,643 as of Saturday afternoon.

The ministry says 8,591 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 19,357 swab samples were tested. So far, 2 million and 897,503 people have been tested in the country.

Likewise, 748 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 389 tested positive.

As of today, there are 115,806 active cases across the country. Of them, 7,703 are hospitalised, 1,732 in intensive care units, and 523 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 8,848 people have achieved recovery whereas 129 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s recovery rate is 75.8 per cent.

Of the total cases so far, 383,684 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 6,153 died, according to the ministry.

Over 850 are quarantined across the country.
