Nepal Covid-19 tally: 8,407 PCR and 200 antigen cases in 24 hours; death toll up by 177

Kathmandu, May 21

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 497,052 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry says 8,407 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 22,353 swab samples were tested. So far, 2 million and 878,146 people have been tested in the country.

Likewise, 837 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 200 tested positive.

As of today, there are 116,192 active cases across the country. Of them, 7,697 are hospitalised, 1,716 in intensive care units, and 511 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 7,890 people have achieved recovery whereas 177 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s recovery rate is 75.2 per cent.

Of the total cases so far, 374,836 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 6,024 died, according to the ministry.

Over 900 are quarantined across the country.
