Nepal Covid-19 tally: 8,017 new cases, 5,292 recoveries, 15 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 27

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,062,105 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 8,017 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 15,736 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 5,816 returned positive. Likewise, 6,072 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 2,210 tested positive.

Of total tests, 36.95 per cent of the PCR and 36.39 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 36.76 per cent.

As of today, there are 90,576 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,934 are hospitalised, 257 in intensive care units, and 49 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 5.292 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 15 deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 837,004 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,687 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 89.1 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 554,566 people were vaccinated today.
