Nepal Covid-19 tally: 4,522 new cases, 4,954 recoveries, 41 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, June 22

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 654,470 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry says 4,522 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 12,204 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 3,703 returned positive. Likewise, 4,709 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 819 tested positive.

Of total tests, 30.34 per cent of the PCR and 17.39 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the per-day positivity rate at 26.73 per cent.

As of today, there are 52,648 active cases across the country. Of them, 3,223 are hospitalised, 761 in intensive care units and 218 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 4,954 people have achieved recovery whereas 41 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 564,882 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 8,813 died, according to the ministry. Nepal’s current recovery rate is 90.2 per cent and the death rate 1.5 per cent.
