Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,640 new cases, 2,161 recoveries, 10 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 859,535 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry said 1,640 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 9,767 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,347 returned positive. Likewise, 3,688 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 293 tested positive.

Of total tests, 13.79 per cent of the PCR and 7.94 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 12.18 per cent.

As of today, there are 29,479 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,789 are hospitalised, 488 in intensive care units and 140 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 2,161 people have achieved recovery whereas 10 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 733,161 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 10,889 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 94.8 per cent and the death rate is 1.5 per cent.

Meanwhile, 123,286 people were vaccinated today.
