Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,979 new cases, 1,333 recoveries, 28 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, July 7

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 690,974 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry says 2,979 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 7,835 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 2,077 returned positive. Likewise, 4,063 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 902 tested positive.

Of total tests, 26.05 per cent of the PCR and 22.20 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 25.03 per cent.

As of today, there are 26,544 active cases across the country. Of them, 2,788 are hospitalised, 571 in intensive care units and 161 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 1,333 people have achieved recovery whereas 28 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 614,327 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 9,291 died, according to the ministry.
