Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,838 new cases, 1,475 recoveries, 30 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, July 21

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 724,455 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry 2,838 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 8,715 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 1,918 returned positive. Likewise, 3,901 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 931 tested positive.

Of total tests, 22 per cent of the PCR and 23.82 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 22.49 per cent.

As of today, there are 26,832 active cases across the country. Of them, 2,492 are hospitalised, 627 in intensive care units and 171 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 1,475 people have achieved recovery whereas 30 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 636,402 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 9,637 died, according to the ministry. Nepal’s current positivity rate is 94.6 per cent whereas the death rate is 1.5 per cent.
