Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,714 new cases, 1,288 recoveries, 24 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, July 22

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 727,169 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry 2,714 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 9,122 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 1,855 returned positive. Likewise, 3,707 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 859 tested positive.

Of total tests, 20.33 per cent of the PCR and 23.17 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 21.15 per cent.

As of today, there are 28,234 active cases across the country. Of them, 2,759 are hospitalised, 635 in intensive care units and 172 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 1,288 people have achieved recovery whereas 24 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 637,690 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 9,661 died, according to the ministry. Nepal’s current positivity rate is 94.5 per cent whereas the death rate is 1.5 per cent.
