Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,636 new cases, 4,348 recoveries, 20 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, June 29

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 670,857 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry says 2,636 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 7,259 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 1,728 returned positive. Likewise, 4,489 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 908 tested positive.

Of total tests, 23.8 per cent of the PCR and 20.22 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 22.43 per cent.

As of today, there are 35,310 active cases across the country. Of them, 2,961 are hospitalised, 649 in intensive care units and 184 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 4,348 people have achieved recovery whereas 20 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 592,535 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 9,071 died, according to the ministry. Nepal’s current recovery rate is 93.0 per cent and the death rate 1.5 per cent.
