Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,299 new cases, 3,451 recoveries, 34 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 678,808 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry says 2,299 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 6,566 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 1,391 returned positive. Likewise, 4,030 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 908 tested positive.

Of total tests, 21.18 per cent of the PCR and 22.5 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 21.69 per cent.

As of today, there are 29,274 active cases across the country. Of them, 2,938 are hospitalised, 632 in intensive care units and 181 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 3,451 people have achieved recovery whereas 34 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 603,600 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 9,179 died, according to the ministry. Nepal’s current recovery rate is 94 per cent and the death rate 1.5 per cent.

So far, only 757,635 people have received both their doses of either Covishield or Verocell.
