Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,756 new cases, 2,274 recoveries, 23 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 851,964 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 1,756 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 9,773 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,357 returned positive. Likewise, 4,561 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 399 tested positive.

Of total tests, 13.88 per cent of the PCR and 8.74 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 12.25 per cent.

As of today, there are 33,006 active cases across the country. Of them, 2,344 are hospitalised, 540 in intensive care units and 156 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 2,274 people have achieved recovery whereas 23 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 723,456 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 10,809 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 94.3 per cent and the death rate 1.5 per cent.

164,302 people were vaccinated today.
