Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,603 new cases, 2,552 recoveries, 27 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, July 4

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 682,739 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry says 1,603 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 4,876 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which 1,042 returned positive. Likewise, 3,256 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 569 tested positive.

Of total tests, 21.36 per cent of the PCR and 17.47 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 19.71 per cent.

As of today, there are 26,179 active cases across the country. Of them, 2,951 are hospitalised, 608 in intensive care units and 181 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 2,552 people have achieved recovery whereas 27 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 609,218 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 9,225 died, according to the ministry. Nepal’s current recovery rate is 94 per cent and the death rate 1.5 per cent.
