Kathmandu, September 25
To promote a culture of reading and strengthen ties between readers and publishers, the Nepal Academy has launched its Grand Book Exhibition 2083 BS, starting Friday.
Nepal Academy Vice-Chancellor Abinash Shrestha inaugurated the exhibition at the Academy premises in Kamaladi.
“Books still hold their place in the development of society and the production of knowledge,” Shrestha said, adding that the Academy’s book exhibition helps spread knowledge.
The exhibition will run until October 4. According to the Academy, books on Nepali language, literature, art, culture, philosophy, and knowledge and science will be sold at discounts of up to 40 percent.
Alongside government and institutional publications, private publishing houses, book distributors, and related organisations have also set up stalls to display and sell their books. The Academy said well-known publishers including Sajha Prakashan, the National Archives, Lalitkala, Nepalaya, and Indigo Ink are taking part.
Books on language, literature, art, culture, history, philosophy, sociology, children’s literature, folk literature, and other informative and creative genres have been given priority placement in the exhibition stalls. The Academy has provided free stalls to participating publishers and organisations based on the organiser’s criteria and availability.
