NCP nominates three candidates for Dang by-election

Dang district leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party meet to recommend the party’s candidate, in Dang, on Thursday, October 25, 2019.

Kathmandu, October 25

The constituency committee of the ruling Nepal Communist Party has recommended three names for the party’s candidacy for the by-election to be held in Dang-3(B) constituency of the Province 5 Assembly. The election will be held on November 30.

Now, the central leaders of the party will select one from among the three to contest the election, informs the party’s National Assembly member Komal Oli, who led the recommendation committee. A meeting of the committee held at Oli’s residence in Dang made the decision on Thursday.

The nominees are Bimala Oli, Churna Bahadur Oli and Shubha Ram Basnet. Bimala is the widow of the constituency’s provincial lawmaker Uttar Kumar Oli, whose death in a road accident in February this year left the seat vacant. Likewise, Churna Bahadur is the party’s constituency coordinator.

Among the three, Bimala is expected to be the strongest one as both former UML and Maoist Centre sides have supported her.
