NCP leaders busy preparing for secretariat meeting

The secretariat meeting of the Nepal Communist Party, in Kathmandu, on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.

Kathmandu, May 2

The secretariat meeting of the Nepal Communist Party is scheduled to be held at 4 pm on Saturday.

The meeting today will continue to discuss the matters left unresolved from its last meeting held on Wednesday. It is said the meeting will make efforts to resolve the disputes recently seen in the party.

Prior to the meeting, the leaders are in talks with each other and other leaders close to him. Meanwhile, the party’s executive chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has consulted some leaders belonging to the former Maoist party.

After the government issued two controversial ordinances without consulting other leaders in the party on April 20, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has been criticised within and outside the party. The ordinances have been withdrawn; however, the dissatisfaction among the party leaders has continued.

Of late, Oli is under pressure to leave either the party chairmanship or the premiership.
