NCP adamant on its view over Venezuela crisis

File: A meeting of Nepal Communist Party Secretariat

Kathmandu, February 4

Ruling Nepal Communist Party says it is adamant on its previous opinion about the current political crisis in Venezuela.

A meeting of the party’s secretariat decided that the crisis should be solved peacefully by the Venezuelan people themselves without any foreign interference.

The decision comes at a time when a section of stakeholders and experts is criticising the party’s Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal for his statement over the issue 11 days ago, claiming it would cost the country the economic support it has been receiving from the United States

But the party says it is committed to the United Nations Charter and the principles of Panchasheela; and it respects sovereignty and independence of all the countries.

Issuing a statement yesterday, the main opposition party Nepali Congress had also protested Dahal’s statement.
