The meeting of National Assembly has been adjourned for one week, till next Wednesday, after the main opposition party in Federal Parliament, Nepali Congress, obstructed the meeting today.

The meeting was obstructed yesterday as well.

As soon as the meeting began today, the opposition lawmakers stood up from their chairs. Then, Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina let lawmaker Badre Pande to speak on behalf of the party.

Pandey told the House that the meeting should not move ahead with the regular business till the talks being held between the government and Dr Govinda KC are concluded with an agreement. Earlier, the party had decided to obstruct all parliamentary meetings till demands of Dr KC are met.

While the opposition lawmakers were obstructing the House, ruling Nepal Communist Party’s Ram Narayan Bidari said the opposition lawmakers did not present a clear ground for the obstruction, demanding the House resume its business.

Then, Chairman Timilsina told the lawmakers to take their seats and help the House operate regularly, but to no avail.

The next meeting has been scheduled for 11 am next Wednesday.
