National Assembly forms four thematic committees

File: A National Assembly meeting

Kathmandu, August 2

The National Assembly on Thursday formed four thematic committees in compliance with the House regulations.

A meeting of the Committee today endorsed the lists of members unanimously as the Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina read out them.

According to the National Assembly Regulations, the National Assembly has four committees; namely: Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee, Legislation Management Committee, Delegation Management and Government Assurance Committee and National Concerns and Coordination Committee.

Sustainable Development, Legislation Management and National Concerns committees have 14 members each. The other committee has 13 members.

The formation of these committees was delayed as the main opposition Nepali Congress did not agree to give names until the government met demands of medical education reform activist Dr Govinda KC.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives is also likely to form parliamentary committees today itself.
